Potter & Brumfield Potter & Brumfield Inc. (P&B) is the leading manufacturer of electronic relays devices that control the flow of electric current in the United States. Vital components in a wide range of products, relays are found in small appliances, automobiles, furnaces and air conditioners, and vending machines. P&B also designs and markets timers, connectors, circuit breakers, input/output modules, and other mechanisms necessary in the transmission of electric power. A subsidiary of the German conglomerate Siemens AG since 1986, P&B focused on developing new products as well as consolidating and automating its production lines in the 1990s, in order to compete more effectively with Japanese relay manufacturers.

Potter & Brumfield manufactured Ansley connectors, Communication/Signal PC Board Relays, Definite Purpose Contactors, Latching, Impulse, Rotary and Special Application Relays, Mid-Range PC Board Relays, Plug-in/Panel Mount General Purpose Relays, Power PC Board Relays, Power Relays, Solid State Relays and Input/Output Modules, and Time Delay Relays and Timing Modules.

AMF merged into Potter & Brumfield, which was subsequently acquired by Tyco Electronics. TE Connectivity acquired the Potter and Brumfield product line from Siemens AG in the fall of 1999. Tyco acquired Siemens Electromechanical Components GmbH & Co. KG from Siemens for $1.1 billion. Potter & Brumfield's general-purpose relay operations, which include engineering, manufacturing, and marketing, are being integrated into Tyco Electronics, and will be run out of Tyco's Winston-Salem, N.C., plant. TE Connectivity's Potter & Brumfield (P&B) brand offers electromechanical, solid state and time delay relays for PC board and panel/plug-in mounting. Potter & Brumfield (P&B) products serve many industries, including appliance, HVAC, industrial control, computer peripheral, and security.

Potter & Brumfield RelaysTE Connectivity's Potter & Brumfield Solid State Relays (SSRs) are designed for industrial applications, where silent, fast, and long electrical life in switching is required. These TE Potter & Brumfield SSRs are used in heating, power, lighting, and motion applications and can operate with low operating times (make/bounce) with practically no limit on the number of switching cycles. The SSRs are ideal for fast- and high-switching cycle requirements and offer a long electrical life since they contain no moving parts.
