TDK

TDK TDK was founded in 1935 with the aim of commercializing ferrite, Japan's original invention (its initial name was Tokyo Denki Kagaku Kogyo K.K. TDK is an abbreviation for the name). It was exactly the time when high-frequency (high-frequency alternating current) technologies were at a developmental stage. TDK's ferrite cores were used as antenna cores for wireless communication devices or radios, and about 5 million units were shipped until the end of the Second World War (1945). After the war, the applications of ferrite further expanded into cores for the cathode-ray tubes of TVs and transformers, the magnetic heads of tape recorders and video tape recorders, noise suppression components, etc. In recent years, ferrite has greatly contributed to energy and electricity saving involving battery voltage converters (DC-DC converters) for hybrid cars, etc., as its importance is ever increasing.

First soft ferrite materials were developed by Drs. Yogoro Kato and Takeshi Takei of the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1930th. TDK Corporation(originally known as Tokyo Denki Kagaku Kogyo K.K.) was founded in 1935 by Kenzo Saito for marketing and using of soft ferrite materials developed by Kato and Takei in industry. It is TDK which was the first company started working in this field.

As a first TDK innovative product at the market one can note "oxide rings" on the base of soft ferrites applied when manufactuirng transformers and power inductors. From the very beginnig of TDK history the priority for the company has been directed on new innovative researchand development in the field of consumer characteristics of ferrites improvement and search of new fields for their application in practice. At present moment the company is one of the largest ferrites and components producers in the world. TDK has more than 130 offices and plants allover the world.

Continious improvement of technological processes at materials preparation, usage of modern press moulds, control of general parameters at all stages of production allow to get items of high quality corresponding all modern standards. In the world market a wide range of TDK ferrite cores of different forms and sizes with improved characteristics is represented.

TDK Corporation is a leading manufacturer of electronic components. The company was founded in 1935 in Tokyo with the goal of using ferrite in the production of electronic and magnetic components. Ferrite was invented at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, and TDK was entrusted with the mission of using it on an industrial scale.

From the very beginning, TDK’s priority was to invent new technologies and improve them in a persistent manner. Currently, the company focuses on the development of the information and communication industries, as well as on perfecting components for automotive, power, and many other industries.

TDK FerritesThe global range of the corporation, both in terms of sales and production, covers several dozen locations in Asia, Europe, as well as North and South America.

In 2008, German EPCOS became a part of TDK Corporation. Similarly to TDK, EPCOS also concentrates on investments in research and development. Modern technologies used in the production process of TDK (EPCOS) guarantee the highest quality and innovativeness of electronic components.

TDK (EPCOS) products includes: capacitors, array capacitors, coils, EMI filtering chokes, filters, safeguards, PTC fuses, NTC thermistors, varistors, surge arrestors, sensors, ferrite cores and accessories, EMI/EMC components, including ferrites for cables and ferrite beads.
