DanothermDanotherm Electric designs and manufactures high-quality power resistors. Danotherm understands that your operation depends on reliable, efficient power resistors. Danotherm's power resistors are engineered to optimize efficiency and ensure reliability, enhancing operational performance. The range of our expertise covers a wide range of applications and markets. Danotherm specializes in customizing power resistors to fit specific customer needs.

Danotherm power resistors are used into electronic equipment to perform various functions. Some examples are: snubbers, voltage dividers, discharge resistors, and start or charge resistors. Danotherm has a wide products range, from flat to wirewound resistors to compact aluminum housed braking resistors to steel grid braking resistors, to large modules built with water cooled break resistors.

Power ResistorsAn important application is braking resistors in connection with frequency converters for the engine control. Danotherm can supply brake resistors as components for integrated or standalone units. Danotherm has paved the wave of modernization in design that has become the gold standard for power resistors. We lead the industry by deploying international best practices in resistor design and resistive expertise that caters to a broad spectrum of power needs.

Danotherm Resistors
Convection Cooled Resistors
  • Aluminium housed Resistors

Danotherm manufactures axial resistors, ceramic wirewound resistors, steel grid resistors, steel tube resistors, and aluminum house resistors.

  • Steel tube Resistors

Steel tube resistors type PCG and GxxRT from Danotherm are high-power devices that consist of multiple steel tubes welded together into a frame. The resistive element is an active wire that resides inside the steel tube. Typical materials used in the tube include magnesium oxide, which has excellent thermal and electrical properties.

  • Steel grid Resistors

Danotherm steel grid resistors are compact, reliable, and robust. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

  • Wire wound Resistors

Danotherm Electric manufactures a wide range of power resistors that suit different cost, power, pulse overload and environmental protection requirements.

  • Rheostats

Rheostats from Danotherm Electric are variable resistors used for controlling current in electrical circuits. They are used in moderate power circuits for power control through current control. Rheostats are built on a round ceramic body where the active resistor wire is wound on.

  • ModulOhm Resistors

Modulohm resistors are metal-element low-ohm resistors in the form of a non-insulated band or wire. The metal alloy used depends on the application. The resistors are available in 100 / 500 / 1000 piece packages.

RB Resistors Series

RB Resistors SeriesDanotherm RB resistors are heatsink-cooled power resistors in extruded aluminum housings that provide superior heat conduction. A gold-anodized finish delivers maximum resistance to adverse environmental conditions. The resistor housings feature deep fins for natural and forced-air convection-enhanced cooling. When operating at maximum values, RB resistors require a heatsink.

RB resistors feature a wire-wound construction with unique thermosetting compounds for high thermal conductivity. The main resistive element is Copper-Nickel or Nickel-Chrome alloy. The resistor winding is designed for maximum core coverage and provides uniform heat dissipation. When mounted on a heatsink, power ratings for the RB series range from 12 to 250 Watts. The peak voltage limit varies with resistance and ranges from 265 Volts for the 6 Watts rated convection cooled resistors to 2300 Volts for the 250 Watts rated heatsink cooled resistors. RB resistors can sustain five times the rated power for 5 seconds.

Danotherm RB resistors meet or exceed the requirements of MIL - PRF - 18546 G specifications. RB resistors are IP00 rated and are designed for control cabinet mounting.

PR Resistors

PR Series ResistorsPR resistors are moderate-power thick film resistors with a compact design. They have negligible inductance and large creepage dimensions which makes them very suitable for filter and snubber applications. All materials used for resistor construction are UL94V-0 listed. During manufacturing of the resistors, an electrically conductive paste is printed on an alumina ceramic substrate. The electrical connections are tin-welded to the thick film through copper wire.

Three mechanical sizes and more than 10 housing types are available. Up to three resistors can be included inside a single housing. Power ratings for PR resistors range from 100 to 800 W. The nominal power is dependent on the temperature of the heatsink. Higher temperatures lead to linear derating.

The maximum working voltage for PR100 resistors is 1500 VAC. The maximum working voltage for PR250/PR600/PR800 resistors is 5 kVAC. Depending on the resistance, the resistors can handle up to four times the nominal power rating for 10-second pulse/120s. Danotherm can provide metal thick film resistors for applications with higher overload requirements.

Using a heatsink of sufficient size with the PR series resistors is necessary. Thermal grease or thermal conducting foils must provide good thermal contact between the insulated resistor base and the heat sink.

The standard tolerance is ±10%, and resistors with ±1% tolerance are available on request. High-voltage cable terminals are available as options for PR250 resistors.

Danotherm stands as a premier global provider of power resistors, offering an expansive array of products that cater to diverse industries, spanning from automation to E-mobility and renewable energy sectors.
