Diodes represent one of the simplest yet most versatile semiconductor devices, finding application across a wide spectrum of uses. Rectifier diodes play a critical role in power supplies by converting AC mains (line) voltage into DC. Zener diodes ensure voltage stabilization, guarding against unwanted fluctuations in DC supplies within a circuit and providing precise reference voltages for various applications. Signal diodes offer diverse functionalities in signal processing within electronic equipment. A diode acts as a one-way conductor, featuring two terminals: the anode or positive terminal and the cathode or negative terminal. Ideally, a diode permits current flow when its anode is more positive than its cathode, while impeding current flow in the opposite scenario.
