RICOH Semiconductor / RICOH Electronic Devices

ricoh logoRicoh Electronic Devices Co., Ltd., may not be as well known as other parts of this leading Japanese multinational imaging and electronics company, but it’s robust family of analog technology for power management makes Ricoh a leader in the IC market for portable devices. In 2014, Ricoh split off its semiconductor-related business as Ricoh Electronic Devices.

Ricoh specialises in power management integrated circuits for smart energy management, combining low power consumption with high levels of performance, accuracy, reliability and smaller packages. Nisshinbo Micro Device Co., Ltd. acquired Ricoh semiconductor in 2018. Nisshinbo is a manufacturer of electronic products and devices. The company's products include power management ICs, Li-ion battery protection ICs, real time clocks ICs, multi-channel power management ICs and mixed signal ICs, enabling clients to receive quality integrated circuits and other electronic devices. Nisshinbo is the result of a merger between Ricoh and New Japan Radio early in 2022, Japan based New Japan Radio (Nisshinbo) has been manufacturing electronic, RF and microwave radar products for more than 60 years. The company offers op-amps, low-dropout regulators, motor drivers and analogue front-ends.

Ricoh semiconductor product portfolio during the past years specifically for the automotive market. This portfolio contains a range of products for power management such as Voltage Regulators, DCDC Converters, Voltage Detectors, Watchdog Timers and USB Protection Switches. To meet the automotive standards such products must be robust, reliable, suitable for use in various categories of the automotive system and offer low current consumption. Moreover, the products need to be able to withstand harsh environmental and electrical conditions, such as a wide operating temperature range and high input voltage peaks.

Ricoh products joining the Rochester portfolio include power management devices such as LDO voltage regulators, DC/DC converters, microcontroller supervisory, battery protection and switch ICs; real-time clocks; and white LED drivers. There is a range of high reliability devices that are tested over an extended temperature range, up to -40C to +125C, and three classes of automotive grade products offering price/performance combinations that are suited to safety-critical, body system and general accessories, respectively.
